What is a domain nameDomain names are the starting point for any website, email address, or server. By this point in time most people are familiar with the term “domain name” but for those that aren’t – a domain name is a way that people can identify particular locations on the Internet. For example, this website’s domain name is www.Vardag.net. Without a domain name your development project or new website will have trouble getting off the ground.

Now domains come in all different shapes and sizes, most of us are familiar with global domains (gTLD) such as: .com, .net, .org, .edu, .gov, .mil but there are literally hundreds of different extensions available to choose from. Each country has their own domain name (ccTLD), the United States has .us, Germany has .de, Canada has .ca, etc. most countries have restrictions on who can register a domain name and depending on the country the registration/renewal fees can be very costly.
